Here we are with Megadeth's first ever live album. I was as excited to hear it as I was apprehensive. Having been a Metallica/Megadeth fan up until the mid-nineties, when I watched them both wallow in mediocrity, I was worried that the double cd would not live up to my expectations. All in all, I'd have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The tracks are not weighted to showcase any particular Megadeth release, with an average of about three selections per album...they even included "Mechanix" from "Killing is My Business"--ahh the good old days! All told, this is a good retrospective of Megadeth's career thus far...with a noticeable lack of songs from "Risk" (did anyone buy that album?). Al Pitrelli does his best to fill the shoes of departed virtuoso Marty Friedman, but at times he seems confused, as does new drummer Jimmy DeGrasso.

Bottom line:
This was the wrong point in Megadeth's career to be releasing a live album...the band just isn't as tight-knit as metal-heads have come to expect from the band's previous recordings.
